Why should I blog as part of my lawn care marketing?

Blogging is the modern day paper or magazine for starters. 3 in 5 people use Google or YouTube to answer a question or find a solution to a problem. This leaves a lot of room for us as lawn care marketing people to build amazing lead funnels. It's almost the beginning of March and year to date I have brought in over 650 leads from simply blogging. Of course, I also use other tactics for marketing as well, but a good blog always helps. Some people will say it's too competitive or even that Trugreen owns the marketplace, but this is not true. Sure there's a lot of bloggers out there, and a lot of people spending top dollar on online marketing but guess what? They do not always win.

Put your brains above you buck:

If you a consumer savvy marketing person, or just a business owner with some common seance simply build a blogging plan that works for you. I always take a notebook and go issue by issue developing my seasonal blog topics, and then I create subtopics and questions around them. Yes paying Google for AD space does offer a return. But so does good old fashioned hard work. Simply developing proper quality content and really getting down to the root of your consumers' questions followed by a bit of SEO and social interaction can really build your brand and blog with essentially no cost, just time and effort.

How do I start a blog?

Well, almost every Website development provider offers blogging options. From WordPress to WIX you can find a company to build your blog for you or do it yourself. We will do a video later in the week for you who don't understand the process to help step by step you through it.

1. Open your site account and see what their options are on blogging. Find a layout you like and customize your blog to meet your needs.

2. Create a post and start with the most relevant topic available. If it's spring and spring lawn care is the topic you want to write about it, go for it and write your post. Be sure to use your keywords within the post and title as well. If done properly this will greatly increase your SEO rankings.

3.  Once you have your first few post under your belt and the design you like, develop a posting schedule, this step often takes time as most people Beta test their post to see exactly what and when gets them the most interaction and reach.

4. Share your blog on social media, email blast and especially with current happy customers. This will lead to growth and development for your blog.

5. Stick to what works. A lot of people want to do 1,000,000 while blogging. Try 2 or 3 avenues at a time so it's manageable. If you get 20 leads a month from writing a blog and boosting the post on facebook, but only 2 from doing the same on Adwords focus on the analytics and work to ensure you succeed.

6. Start and maintain an email list. I cannot stress this enough. A great email list can be priceless. Yes having only 10 or 20 emails to start can be intimidating but over time building up to 100's and 100's of emails can really be great. For example, if your list is 5000 emails and 10% respond to an upsell offer that's 500 responses. If out of that you sell say 10% an lawn aeration at $100.00 you just made $5000.00.

7. Be responsive when people ask questions. Even if they are too far to service always be responsive. This will help your blog gain relevance and stand with other viewers.

8. Build value in everything you publish. Building value is key. Through building value you can over time find what drives your traffic and stand out above your competetiors.

9. K.I.S.S aka keep it stupid simple. Thought to us a million buttons and gadgets may look cool, try and keep your blog simple enough for the average user. This will make less confusion for your user.

10. Quality, not quantity. Be sure that you don't rush in posting a tone of junk just to have a blog post. Follow the previous steps and ensure that your post are relevant and we'll thought out.
Hopefully this helps you on your mission to create a blog. If you have any questions feel free to ask we will gladly answer them as quickly as possible.
