Why is now a better time than ever to get into lawn care marketing? Well in the beginning of February Scotts Lawn Care sent all of it's customers a letter stating that they were now officially Tru Green. This was a huge deal for a lot of small business owners and they may not even realize it at this point. For those of you who don't pay attention to this article clearly!

For many years TruGreen the world's largest lawn care company has used a monopoly effect to eating up it's smaller competitors. Not a bad plan to be honest, but over time it hurt the company.  With over 2.5 Million customers, there are bound to be mistakes and lots of them. Tru Green has bought out so many companies and spent so much time on an acquisition that services have taken the waste side. For years there have been 2 types of Tru Green customers, those who swear by the company and those who would rather have no lawn care than Tru Green. 

So what does this mean for small lawn care companies now that Tru Green has acquired Scott's? Well, it means that the 30% of Scott's customers who went to Scott's to get away from Tru Green will surely be looking for new providers this Spring. If you have half a mind when it comes to goals, I would highly suggest building value in your services and representing family values if you can while reaching your target market. There will be about 500,000 customers or 20% of their base looking for new providers this spring! This means roughly 10,000 customers per state will be seeking new services! 

If you work hard and brand your business appropriately and locally you can and will see tremendous growth this season in your market share! Make it your goal this season to grow with a family feel and quality services. This could be the year that the lawn care business owners can take part of the market back!!!
